Steps to join the scheme:
1. Complete the relevant application form(s) and data sheet(s) and choose one of the two certification bodies

If the finished product has not yet been tested, it is possible to apply only for a technical pre-assessment.
You can contact the scheme owner on info@realschemes.org.uk for help to complete the form.
2. Obtain the below, if available
- Safety Data Sheets / Material Safety Data Sheets for any additives according to REACH
- Test reports for product components
- Certificates for product components
3. Provide this documentation to REAL with the test report for the finished product
4. Accept the quote for the certification assessment from the chosen certification body
5. Settle the invoice for the technical pre-assessment (if the finished product has not yet been tested)
6. Review the outcome and confirm whether to proceed to testing if a pre-assessment has taken place
7. Accept the quote for testing and settle the invoice
8. Send product samples to the approved laboratory (if the finished product has not yet been tested)
9. After testing and completion of the final conformity assessment, if the assessment was successful, settle the invoice for the annual REAL licence fee and sign the REAL licence agreement for use of the mark
10. Settle the invoice from the certification body and receive the certification files – welcome to the scheme!
